Intercountry Adoption Regulations in Turkey
Foreign nationals residing in Turkey or abroad can adopt Turkish children pursuant to Article 305 of the Turkish Civil Code and the Hague Adoption Convention.
1. Eligibility Criteria for Adoptive Parents
- Minimum age requirement of 30 years, or at least 5 years of valid marriage.
- Mandatory 1-year foster care period under social services supervision prior to court decree.
- Age difference of at least 18 years between adopter and child.
2. Court Finalization Decree
Family Court reviews comprehensive home study reports before issuing a final, irrevocable Adoption Decree establishing full legal parentage.
