Legal Restrictions on Purchasing Agricultural Property

Foreign buyers purchasing unbuilt or agricultural land (Tarla, Bağ, Bahçe) in Turkey are subject to specific statutory conditions under Property Law No. 2644.

1. Maximum Acreage Limits

A foreign individual may own a maximum of 30 hectares of real estate nationwide, not exceeding 10% of the private land area in any district.

2. Mandatory 2-Year Agricultural Project Approval

Foreign buyers acquiring unbuilt agricultural land must submit a specific agricultural or development project to the Ministry of Agriculture within 2 years of purchase; failure results in mandatory liquidation.
